Bills & Overtures Committee  usually meets in Salina to plan for the presentation of items that need Presbytery’s vote. This committee usually meets one or two times per year. It is their responsibility to assist the Presbytery as it deals with bills and overtures received from other governing bodies, and as the Presbytery wishes to introduce bills or overtures at its own initiative.

Board of Trustees/Endowment Fund Trustees  meet as needed, perhaps four to five times per year in a central location or by conference call. The Board of Trustees holds legal title to all property of the Presbytery and manages funds accrued from the sale of property and of those funds received from any source which are designated for capital investment by the Presbytery. It receives and considers all applications from churches to sell, mortgage or otherwise encumber church property, and recommend appropriate action to the Presbytery. The Board of Trustees is also responsible for managing the endowment funds of the Presbytery.

Budget Committee  meets twice each year in Salina and as needed via conference call. This committee prepares the annual Presbytery budget to submit to the Presbytery in October and monitors income and expenditures throughout the year. It is also the responsibility of this committee to recommend the annual per capita to Council in June and to Presbytery in July.

Commissioned Lay Pastor Committee  meets monthly and members of the committee conduct interviews with individual candidates in various locations. Monthly meetings are split between conference calls and face-to-face meetings, usually in Junction City. This committee is responsible for the oversight of the Presbytery of Northern Kansas’ Commissioned Lay Pastor Program and its inquirers and candidates until they are deemed "available for commissioning," at which time their care is transferred to the Committee on Ministry.

Committee on Ministry  meets 10 to 11 times per year, usually in Salina on the first Tuesday of the month. Individual members have assignments to complete in between meetings. This committee serves as pastor and counselor to the ministers of the Presbytery, and facilitates relations between congregations, pastoral leadership and the Presbytery. Responsibilities of this committee include providing a liaison to each congregation, recommending actions and handling business relating to the churches and clergy of the Presbytery. This Committee also oversees the Partnership Funding program and continuing education scholarships for clergy, lay pastors and educators.

Committee on Nominations  meets annually for a face to face meeting and then as needed via conference call.  It is the responsibility of this committee to nominate persons for all vacancies on continuing committees (except the Committee on Nominations). It is this committee’s responsibility to nominate individuals whose abilities best serve the needs of the body and also represent the diversity of the Presbytery.

Committee on Preparation for Ministry  meets four to six times per year. This committee exercises responsibility for the spiritual growth of inquirers and candidates, supports them, gives them guidance in regard to courses of study, and counsels with them in the area of finances, plans for education, plans for field study, etc. This committee is also responsible for overseeing the Summer Seminary Intern program.

Committee on Representation  often meets by conference call. It is the responsibility of this committee to advise the Presbytery with regard to its membership and of its committees, councils, and other units implementing the principles of participation and inclusiveness to ensure fair and effective representation in the decision-making of the Church.

Council  is made up of 12 at-large members plus staff. The Council meets 4 to 5 times each year, usually on Tuesdays in Salina. The Council receives written reports from committees and is responsible for long range plans for the life and mission of the Presbytery and for coordinating the work of the administration and ministry committees.

Council Visioning and Resourcing Team  is made up of 2 members of Council plus 2 additional at-large members. This team is always looking toward the future and working ahead of several Council meetings. This group plans presentations, reports, and activities for Council.

Permanent Judicial Commission  consists of seven members (elders and ministers) serving in three classes of six year terms. This commission meets as needed and is guided by the Rules of Discipline (Book of Order D-4.0100) as it hears and acts on judicial cases filed within the Presbytery.

Personnel and Office Administration Committee  is a committee which meets two to three times per year in Salina. This committee’s responsibilities include conducting annual evaluations and reviews of all compensated staff of the Presbytery and assisting the General Presbyter in the oversight of the Presbytery Office and staff. The Committee assists the General Presbyter in hiring and supervising the Presbytery staff, updating staff job descriptions, seeing that the Presbytery is in compliance with A.A./E.E.O. policies, and ensuring that the Presbytery Personnel Policies are practiced and updated as needed.

Presbytery Meetings Preparation Committee  meets four times each year to plan for each quarterly Stated Meeting. It reviews and evaluates the previous Presbytery meeting and plans upcoming meetings. It is responsible for the worship service and docket at each meeting as well as programs and break-out groups for each of the Presbytery meetings.

Resource Center Committee  meets ordinarily four times each year in Salina. This committee, in conjunction with the Resource Center Director, is responsible for maintaining, updating, and promoting the usage of the Resource Center and encouraging the use of these resources in training and education. This committee previews materials which are purchased for the Resource Center.

Session Records Review Committee  meets as a committee once or twice per year and also conducts regional workshops on three or four Saturdays each year (not all committee members have to be at every workshop). This committee’s responsibilities include reading, reviewing and commenting on session records of all churches annually and assisting clerks of session with questions about record and minute-keeping.

Sexual Misconduct Response Committee  meets once each year for training and then on an as-needed basis. When an accusation is filed with the Stated Clerk, this committee is responsible for counseling with both parties (and their families, if applicable) regarding the availability of pastoral support, and advising parties with regard to their rights to counsel, and for advising appropriate civil officials if a criminal act has been committed.

Stewardship and Mission Committee  meets four to five times each year. This committee is responsible for interpreting information about the general mission budgets of the PC(USA), Synod and the Presbytery and for interpreting the four PC(USA) Special Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, the Pentecost Offering, the Peacemaking Offering, and the Christmas Joy Offering). It is also responsible for overseeing the Mission Giving program of the Presbytery and recognizing congregations who are excelling &/or improving in their mission giving. This Committee's responsibilities also include overseeing the Presbytery's Mission Project Grant program.

Youth Ministries Committee  meets four to six times each year.  This body is responsible for providing Presbytery activities that promote Christian fellowship while encouraging youth to be involved in their local churches. They plan and coordinate the Spring and Fall Youth Rallies. This committee oversees the outdoor ministry program of the Presbytery including representation on the Heartland Center Board, promotion and volunteer recruitment of the Heartland Center Camping Program, and planning and coordinating any Youth Trips.  It is the responsibility of this committee to oversee the disbursement of funds from the Adda Walden Memorial Fund.
